Semi-Finalist Evaluation
Judges'' comments
The Climate CoLab adaptation contest team appreciates the time that you took to submit this proposal. Your proposal makes a series of very strong claims about the advantages of this approach to spatial planning, but does not provide any detailed analysis of how this specific spatial pattern delivers greater livability or sustainability. More detail on that is necessary. Existing practice and scholarship emphasizes the importance and value of people having a role in formulating the physical or social dimensions or the place where they live (even temporarily). This has been identified as particularly significant for the control over the organization and operation of community institutions. The importance of context is also regarded as highly significant. At present, your proposal does not take into account many of these important considerations – please consider reviewing the literature and lessons learned from past experiences and adjust your proposal accordingly. All in all, this is a good starting point. The judges encourage you to consider these factors and keep evolving your project. While your proposal is not advancing to the semi-finals this year, the contest team wishes you the best of luck in your endeavors and would love to see a proposal from you next year incorporating this feedback.
