Hi, Thank you for submitting this proposal. You have recognized a need for better urban planning both in cities and relief camps. It seems like you have developed a generic methodology that can be applied to urban planning exercises in order to achieve a more sustainable outcome. This proposal would benefit from a clear and succinct articulation of what the FMPS actually is; you seem to dance around this a little bit. As well, some examples would be very helpful in making your proposal less abstract. For example, you mention that the FMPS has the ability to resolve conflicts between new and existing infrastructure. Can you provide an example of a specific conflict and how FMPS will support a resolution? Best of luck, Mike

Hi Mike, Many thanks for taking the time to review my proposal! Unfortunately word limits on the submission format mean that it was very difficult to describe the FMPS in detail under the main headings, so I have rather included links to a series of presentation documents which address this more comprehensively. If you'd like to take a look, the document titled "02_FMPS_System Theory & Application" at the following link is a good place to start; https://app.box.com/fmps I hope this is of some help, but please let me know if you have any questions/comments on review of the above. All the Best, Padhraic

Hello - While reading your proposal, it took me sometime to understand what you are saying. I will not say give example but clarify the concept at the start. Following the Mike suggestions, I will suggest that using words smartly can solve the problem. Also, I will suggest that if you can name a place where your proposal's prototype can be implemented. It will be help me and other catalysts to think more clearly about your proposal. I must say, it is a great idea with a lot of potential. However, there is a need of clear articulation, and little bit pursuation. Best

Thanks Mohazzam, I appreciate the feedback. I'll certainly take a look at clarifying the wording and adding info as suggested so the core concept of the system is clear from the start. Regards, Padhraic

Excellent idea. My comments: a.- Take a look on certain cities in developing countries using systems like the matriz, Curitiba in Brazil, for example. Improvement of the Matrix and of the planning is desirable. b.- Be aware that this might be interesting for the construction of cities from displaced people due to the rise of sea level and other natural catastrophie. c.- Try to think to combine explanatios extremeleasy to people using the Matrix with legal rules to enforce the use promoting new legislation. Law might be of help in case people do not want to work with the matrix.

The Climate CoLab adaptation contest team appreciates the time that you took to submit this proposal. Your proposal makes a series of very strong claims about the advantages of this approach to spatial planning, but does not provide any detailed analysis of how this specific spatial pattern delivers greater livability or sustainability. More detail on that is necessary. Existing practice and scholarship emphasizes the importance and value of people having a role in formulating the physical or social dimensions or the place where they live (even temporarily). This has been identified as particularly significant for the control over the organization and operation of community institutions. The importance of context is also regarded as highly significant. At present, your proposal does not take into account many of these important considerations – please consider reviewing the literature and lessons learned from past experiences and adjust your proposal accordingly. All in all, this is a good starting point. The judges encourage you to consider these factors and keep evolving your project. While your proposal is not advancing to the semi-finals this year, the contest team wishes you the best of luck in your endeavors and would love to see a proposal from you next year incorporating this feedback.
