Has over three decades of experience in the field of community based natural resources management (CBRNM) and enhancement of rural livelihoods. Has supported several NRM and livelihoods programmes and over a hundred CSOs to build strategies, implementation mechanisms and manage result chains. Has developed capacities of leaders, managers and field functionaries on participatory technology development and technology management.
Played key role in design of CSO-centred development programmes like the Indo-German Watershed Development Programme (supported by KfW-NABARD), District Poverty Initiatives Programme (the World Bank supported DPIP-MP), PRI and WASH programmes in Himachal Pradesh (supported by GtZ), Micro-Area Development Programme, Afghanistan, Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation and Health (FINISH) and Kutch Drought Proofing Programme (supported by MoRD, GOI and PMNRF). One such project of GRASP on management of groundwater by community institutions qualified for Development Marketplace in 2007. Has extensive experience in design, development and management of decentralised rural livelihoods projects, in India and abroad, with focus on inclusive community institutions and their empowerment. Systems developed for Convergence of Agriculture in Maharashtra programme was scaled up by Government of Maharashtra in other livelihoods programmes.
Has vast experience with official livelihoods programmes beginning with IRDP, SJGSY, NRLM in many states; currently on panel of experts of NRLM/NIRD, SRLM, Maharashtra. Being well versed with techniques of PRA, Project Cycle Management, RBM, LFA, PIME and Moderation, has effectively built capacities of community leaders, government and civil society functionaries on various aspects of NRM and rural livelihoods.
