An engineer turned manager with an MBA in Global Energy from a top-5 European university, Ignacio has worked in Sustainability for almost 25 years.
With over 18 years at Gamesa, a top-tier renewable energy company, Ignacio has actively participated in the evolution of Renewables: bringing clean energy to grid-parity and making it affordable for emerging markets and communities. He is currently seeking to leverage his extensive experience and knowledge to help the renewable energy industry overcome the intermittency issue, and to make renewables 100% comparable to and competitive with other energy sources.
Ignacio´s track record began with technical development, and has progressed to operational implementation, business development, risk management and strategy. Multilingual and people-oriented, he has built and led local teams, and carried out corporate functions in the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. For Ignacio, professional success is closely related to the energy he brings to his work and to his capacity to integrate external and diverse input to find creative solutions to difficult problems. Looking to assure that the right combination of People, Products, Processes and Passion are brought to each activity, he builds lasting relationships.
Ignacio´s career to date has centered largely around Growth and Turnaround. Growth initiatives have included launching new processes or business units, ramping them up, driving them until stabilization, and then handing them over to regular teams. Turnaround projects have required analyzing situations, defining alternatives and efficiencies, integrating lessons learnt, piloting the changes until the situation has been corrected, and overseeing renewed Growth under new organizational forms. Through these experiences, Ignacio has come to understand when it is important to work more, but chiefly when it is critical to work better.
