Dr Brad Ilg could be called an optimistic realist. Realist because he comes from a long familial history of resource extraction. Optimist because he has had enough education and seen enough of the world to know that, as a species we can shape our destiny to a large degree.

Dr Ilg has four physical and cultural science degrees largely focused on Earth and Planetary Sciences. He has postdoctoral experience exploring the great plate boundary manifest as New Zealand. Dr Ilg has nearly 20 years experience as a government resource and CCS geologist and Manager of Petroleum Strategy, Planning and Promotion where he and his teams attracted nearly one trillion dollars of market capital to New Zealand.

Also a serial entrepreneur, he is now Managing Director of ProEnergy Solutions Ltd. The ProEnergy vision is to enable a multi-decade-scale investment framework that assumes as a first principle that non-renewable-transitional-renewable energy investment mixes will be status quo for each country. We view dogmatic end member thinking as contrary to solutions involving the uneven distribution of population, wealth and resources on Earth.
