Co-Founder and Managing Director of seed investment firm Vodia Ventures, Julianne has a 25 year history of providing strategic grounding to organizations putting technology to work for the greater good.  She has worked with for-profit and non-profits alike, in each case guiding the organization to work backwards from its core identity and strategic aims to define its communications, technology, and/or operational priorities, and then apply fresh thinking to create successful outcomes.  As an external consultant, VP of Communications, VP of Business Development, and VP of Engineering, Julianne has built departments, created programs, guided branding and identity efforts, and led a wide variety of initiatives from blank page to successful, in many cases award-winning, completion. Along the way she and her co-conspirators have catalyzed industry shifts, changed conversations, and set new standards for performance.  Her experience spans sectors ranging from engineering R&D to clean water and clean energy, software, and telecom services (partial list).  Julianne holds degrees from MIT and the University of Maryland, and an executive certificate in sustainability management from the Presidio Graduate School;  she previously served as a certified EMT in Maryland and Massachusetts.  She was twice a finalist in the NASA astronaut selection process.  She currently co-chairs the MIT Enterprise Forum Innovation Series and serves on the MIT Venture Mentoring Service, among others, and she speaks and writes for a wide variety of domestic and international audiences on subjects related to innovation, entrepreneurship, cleantech, and impact investing.
