Name: Joseph Sekiku (Ashoka Fellow), I am the Director of FADECO COMMUNITY RADIO, KARAGWE- KAGERA REGION, NW Tanzania. My Education background: Trained in (partial)Agricultural engineering (Makerere University Kampala, Uganda 1986-1988) and renewable energy technologies (Centre for Alternative Technology, University of Abersystwich,Wales, UK 1996). Studied philosophy and theology from the Katigondo major seminary and Catholic Urbanian University- Rome 1989-1991). Hold postgraduate diplomas in modern management, administration and personnel/ industrial relations from Cambridge Tutorial College UK – 1993-1995. Post graduate certificate in Post harvest agricultural technologies (Arc Infruitec – Stellenbosch University, Cape Town, South Africa -1998-1999).
I have won 3 International awards: Cochran Fellowship(USA) and Allumini of the USDA , an Ashoka Fellow since 2007 to date and the UN SEED AWARDS Winner 2011.
INVOLVEMENT IN MEDIA FOR AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT: I am a producer of several agriculture and related radio programs. I have produced programs on climate change, science and technology, entrepreneurship, farming as a business, etc. I am an active promoter and development catalyst. I HAVE also been involved in ONLINE discussions.
