Mauro Ometto has a central role in the Business Development activities of Enel Group in Africa, where he recently joined Enel Green Power leading the entry strategy and new initiatives in Kenya in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, geothermal and hydro), with a key position for the rest of East Africa (Uganda,Tanzania and Ethiopia). Mauro has a solid expertise in the development of country entry plans and stakeholder engagements with governments, authorities and corporate partners, strategic planning and project origination and valuation,with a direct involvement in complex transactions in the energy industry.Previously, he worked at the global headquarter of General Electric’s Oil & Gas Division as Strategic Marketing Analyst. Mauro holds a degree summa cum laude from the University of Padua in Materials Engineering with a specialization in applied physics and nano technologies and a Master of Science in Management Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He is a founding member of the Rome Hub of the Global Shaper Community of the World Economic Forum where he is also in charge as Curator. He was one of the founder and project leaderof Powering Education, an initiative focused on the impact of the diffusion of clean energy sources in the education systems in emerging countries. The project was awarded the first price and an acceleration grant by The Coca-Cola Company during the Annual Meeting in Davos in 2014. Mauro was also involved in the “Presidential Briefings” initiative of the World Economic Forum for the topic “Transforming Energy”. Mauro has a strong interest in energy and sustainability issues, in particular in the intersection between conventional energy sources and renewable sources in the global energy scenarios. More broadly he deeply believes in the disruptive role of technology to face major social issues and he is personally committed on some key initiatives with this ultimate goal
