Born 1956 in the Netherlands, I have traveled the world for fun, as a tourguide, a tour operator and independent small investor. Since 2009 I live in Brazil where I bought a large wooded farm. I realized that climate change is the most dangerous of all the challenges facing humanity, with overpopulation, ecological degradation, peak oil and a broken financial system being the other ghosts hovering over our future. James Hansen and James Lovelock are important teachers for me. Why the Carbon Fee and Dividend system is important, IF ROLLED OUT WORLDWIDE, is that it would both be the most efficient tool to combat CO2 emissions AND fight extreme poverty, by letting all (above 12 years) share in its dividends. Climate change needs to be fought with everything we can throw at it, but the CF&D system would be extremely helpful, also because carbon negative activities like burying carbon with biochar would actually receive money for their service.
