Dr Rebecca Nadin has been living and working in China for the past 14 years. After studying Chinese at Peking University, she joined the British Embassy as a Political officer covering a wide portfolio including bilateral relations, Central Asia and energy security issues. Since 2006, Dr Nadin has been working in the field of climate change policy. Rebecca is currently the Asia- Pacific Regional Director for INTASAVE. INTASAVE is a climate change impacts, adaptation and sustainable development advisory organization, providing expert advice, technical assistance and project implementation on a variety of climate and environmental issues.

Rebecca previously held roles as the Deputy Director of the British Council’s Global Climate Change Programme and Director of the China Climate Change Programme. Here she focused on climate change communication, youth engagement, public awareness and education. She frequently presents at and participates in multilateral conferences on climate change and the environment

In 2011, Rebecca established PLAN8, a not-for-profit organization, which works with women to inspire and build the next generation of innovators and leaders to facilitate positive social change. Plan8 believes that not only do women have an important role to play in tackling these challenges and developing solutions but their participation is essential if we are to facilitate the global change required.

Rebecca holds a PhD in political science with a focus on Chinese foreign policy in Central Asia, an MA in International Relations and BA in Politics from the University of Sheffield. She is currently working towards the completion of an LLM in International Environmental Law. She has published a number of papers on climate change and media in China, Chinese climate policy and UNFCCC technical papers on ‘Loss and Damage’ .

Rebecca is also an adjunct lecturer at Centre for Environment and Population Health, Griffith University, Australia.
