Member Profile
I was a founder member of the UK Green Party in 1973 when it was formed in response to the 1972 MIT study Limits to Growth. I remain an active member (at 79), and I have represented the party at local, national and european elections, though never elected. I ensured that the Citizens' Basic Income, the subject of my proposal, was in the Party's first manifesto, and it remains Party policy, though it has never been seen as urgent, as I have insisted throughout . My career was as a Probation Officer, now retired. It is relevant in that I saw the effect of economic downturns of the poorest and least able. This led me independently to be a member of the international movement, Basic Income Earth Movement (BIEN), devoted to the social justice aspects of the CBI, but other members tend to be single minded, and not concerned with its relevance to climate change.
