I am Director of the Center for Oil Shale Technology and Research, which studies the geology and rock mechanics of oil shale, organic rich mudstone that can produce oil and gas upon heating.  I also Co-Chair the annual Oil Shale Symposium at the Colorado School of Mines.  I am a geologist and mineralogist by training, and have worked on a variety of energy sources throughout my career.
