Member Profile
I am currently looking for new opportunities within the environmental, social and international development sectors. I am an experienced environmental policy advisor with considerable experience in designing, implementing and maintaining environmental and social policies. I have a particular interest in disaster risk reduction and the social impacts of natural disasters, with a specific focus on gender relations during and post disaster. ---------------------------- In my spare time I am running a series of seminars on gender in risk studies. The first seminar which was held on the 16 May 2012 at King’s College London focused on natural disasters and the role gender has in risk communication and emergency management. It was a huge success with a high attendance and stimulating debate. The next seminar on gender and the financial crisis will be held in January 2013. Details (incl. speakers, times and location) to follow soon. In addition to the above seminars, my research on gendering risk has also been featured in a risk management magazine. The online version of which can be found here: http://bit.ly/r5I1mm. I have also been invited to present my findings at the FLOODrisk2012 International Conference in Rotterdam in November 2012. I am also a full Member of the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management.
