Finalist Evaluation

Judges'' comments

This proposal addresses a critical issue – post consumer waste. Many players in the apparel industry are looking for ways to address this in more meaningful ways.

This said, the proposal is light on solutions or scalable action. MIT alumni action is a start, but how do you engage wider, global communities? What systems could be designed to make take back work? How will you address the issue of mixed materials or other components that are not recyclable?

We're sure these will be sorted over the course of the action plan and look forward to seeing this proposal come to life in the future. We encourage you to move your proposal to a contest workspace and continue to elaborate on your ideas.

Judges'' comments

Congratulations, you've been selected as a semi-finalist. To further develop your proposal for the finalist judging review, please see a few comments from the semi-finalist judges below.

Overall, this is a critical issue – post consumer waste. I think our industry needs to get after this in more meaningful way.

This said, the proposal is very light on real solutions. MIT alumni writing letters to policy makers will not make this happen. I’d rather see what sort of system they might design to make take back work (consumer incentives, logistics, processing, building markets, etc.).

Please complete the rest of the proposal, including timeline and budget required.
