It looks like a good proposal, and I am convinced that it would have climate benefits, for example by decreasing methane emissions from organic matter not going to landfills. You are, however, speaking this benefit clearly out. By the way, you seem to have duplicated your proposal.

as we are not going (during this phase) to mesure emissions reductions we have not include such benefit in the proposal. we only include the benefits that we can measure in order to justify our results. But yes it is anyways an indirect benefit And yes it was a mistake, we now have deleted the duplicate. Thank you for the comment

Dear cata007201 Please remember this , this is " Youth action on climate change " so if you only try to solve a problem of a capital , not even a country , it's meant you try to solve a local problem , not a global problem . And Climate Change is a Global Problem . Do you intend to solve a global problem by solving a local problem ? Are you kidding ?

Dear Huynhpudat As i dont know how deep is your knowledge about climate change, I'will try to explain you in the easiest way. Climate change is mostly caused by human activities that occur at different local leves. For example the emissions of a mega industry only occur in a very specific area, the loss of biodiversity caused by deforestation only occurs in specific forested area, the increases or drecreses of temperature can be experimented in a different way, depending on where you live, and the effects or impacts of climate change are different in every country, even in every city, as climatic and natural conditions behavee also different. We can say that climate change is a global issue because it affects all of us, but it is caused by very specific activities and actions tan can be measured and mitigated if we work on them Bogota is one of the biggest cities in the world. 10 million people. If we can solve the problema of waste management in this city, we will extend our intiitative to other cities in the country, and then to other south american countries.

IT is really a great proposal for Bogota taking into account the problems for young recyclers (No chances, no jobs, violence). I see a great social impact with you.

Dear RECICLApps, Thank you very much for your proposal on the “Youth action on climate change” contest. Your proposal was among the 15 which the Fellows pre-selected for the Judges but unfortunately, it didn’t make it to the semi-finals. The workability and social dimension of it were particularly appreciated by the Judges. However, this proposal felt more focused on improving lives and livelihoods than on action on climate change - not that it wouldn't be beneficial, but the clear environmental case for this isn't laid out. Focusing on waste reduction rather than waste management could probably be more impactful. Moreover, the Judges express ethical concerns because of the impact of working amongst garbage dumps on the young people doing the work. The project could feel like a validation of this informal and undecent work - and, if these young people are already at a significant disadvantage, will they have the resources to deliver trainings (in terms of time not spent working, travel...)? The use of IT in meeting these challenges was not clearly detailed, though it appears promising. Thanks again for your contribution, and best of luck in participating in future CoLab contests or taking this idea to other avenues! Best, Antoine on behalf of the “Youth action” fellows
