The Showtime series on Climate Change did this a little bit. I like this idea, you get people involved through raising consciousness and changing the narrative. A hero who rejects cars, big homes, consumerist ideas and is still an action hero in the model of David Carradine in the Kung Fu series.
To change peoples minds you have to replace current ideas of what is cool and fun with new ones, and while Hollywood is probably too entrenched in the status quo, a few successes in the world of independent cinema would make a big difference. Check out the Telluride Mountain Film Festival for some great examples.

The idea of a Hollywood movie to promote green building is a great one, as movies have huge potential to grab attention and influence society. Unfortunately the proposal does not set out how the proposal would be funded and implemented, or what would distinguish it from the many activist movies that are currently around.
A global impact, informative and game-changing idea. More detail on the movie script to balance information for the public to learn from and adopt. Combining a "Sicko" with movie stars addresses an element or two of green building is worth more detail. The cost is extreme although there is a hint at a business case for pay-back.
