Other greenhouse gases

Description
Allows for variations in atmospheric concentrations of two other greenhouse gases: methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N20). This module is not accessible through C-LEARN's Web interface but is accessible in C-ROADS.

This module is based on atmospheric concentrations of CH4 and N2O derived from runs of a large-scale climate model developed by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), the Model for the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas-Induced Climate Change (MAGICC).

Input variables
Users can choose a range of values for NH4 and NO2 concentrations.

* Parameter value of 1 corresponds to concentrations associated with MAGICC's simuation of the IPCC A1FI (rapid economic growth, fossil fuel intensive) scenario. * Parameter value of 0 corresponds to concentrations associated with MAGICC's simulation of the IPCC B1 (large investments in low-carbon energy sources and energy efficiency) scenario. * Intermediate parameter values correspond to intermediate levels of NH4 and NO2 concentrations.

Key assumptions
Based on atmospheric concentrations of CH4 and NO2 from runs of MAGICC.

Output variables

* Future atmospheric concentrations of NH4 (feeds intoCarbon cycle module) * Future atmospheric concentrations of NO2 (feeds into Carbon cycle module)
