The Climate CoLab is made up of a diverse international community of over 100,000 members, including over 800 volunteers as Advisors, Judges, and other roles, and a dedicated team of staff members and researchers. Each contribution from a community member, even a single vote or comment, helps in the collective work of figuring out what we can do about climate change.

Members are the core users of the website, who read, write, and vote on proposals.  As the Climate CoLab is open to everyone, not just scientists and policy makers, their backgrounds are diverse.  They bring their varied knowledge from all sectors and all societies to the Climate CoLab.

Contest Leadership

Advisors are subject matter experts who have a deep knowledge of the contest theme and strong connections in the field.  Their expertise is critical for shaping the contest prompt and providing expert feedback to proposal authors.  They may also serve as contest judges.

Judges are subject matter experts who have a high level of experience in the field, and provide feedback on and select the contest's most promising proposals.

Fellows are committed graduate students, post-docs, and professionals who are eager to find new, creative solutions to a climate change challenge. They coordinate and help shape their contests, and serve as liaisons between contest entrants and the Climate CoLab team, Advisors, and Judges.
Impact Assessment Fellows were selected for their experience with climate modeling and, advised by MIT professors, have built a climate model database that they use to help authors quantify the climate impact of proposals submitted to the site, as well as ensure consistency across assessments.
Catalysts are knowledgable professionals who& have committed to providing feedback to proposals submitted in Climate CoLab contests. They have applied to and been selected by the Climate CoLab as members with expertise and qualifications that would be valuable contributions to proposal authors.
