Hassaan Idrees is an electrical engineer working at Jacobs. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering from NUST and Arizona State University (ASU), respectively, and more than five years of professional experience in water and wastewater, oil and gas, electric utilities, and fast-moving consumer goods’ industries. As a Fulbright scholar at ASU, he worked for the cross-university Power Systems Engineering Research Center, serving as the vice president of the Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA) chapter, working in engineering development projects in the Navajo Nation, and for India and Kenya. He has designed and developed renewable energy systems and microgrids in Pakistani and American communities. He has been an IEEE member since 2008, volunteering at different levels and geographies: as PES Region 10 Young Professional Activities Coordinator, as GHTC Technical Committee member in Region 6, as SAC Coordinator for Region 10, as SIGHT Chapter Lead, as Section Student Representative, as IEEE’s Center for Leadership Excellence member, as Humanitarian Activities Committee member for Assessments, and as Member for working groups in standards. Hassaan is also the Professional Development Lead for the CIGRE US Next Gen Network. He is passionate about energy systems, and hopes to bring some positive change with his work.
