Debarati Chakraborty is pursuing her doctoral studies from University of Kalyani, India. Currently she is working on biochemical basis of drought stress tolerance in traditional indica rice cultivars. She is also engaged in phenotypic characterization and maintenance through in-situ conservation of indigenous rice germplasms from Eastern and North-Eastern India and documentation of sustainable cultural anthropological practices important for maintaining agrobiodiversity. She also has training in organic farming techniques, seed bank and mangrove nursery set-up. She also works closely with a e-marketing site involved in promotion and selling of organic foods. Her previous work includes bioremediation of trace metal pollutants through agrowastes and physicochemical changes in mangroves (Sunderban) due to trace metal pollution .
