Member Profile
Reid Harvey is a ceramic industrial designer focused on environmental health in the developing world. Developments specific to this include two that are genuinely sustainable: 1) water filter media and systems of granulated ceramics, coated with a small amount of silver, and, 2) insulating ceramic rocket stoves.
The sustainability of these two developments includes the attributes of: 1) remediation to the highest standard, 2) remarkably low cost, 3) user-friendliness with easy maintenance, and, 4) local reproducibility of the model.
Reid’s implementation of safe drinking water projects has been in both Nepal and Kenya. Implementation of environmentally responsible cook stoves has been in numerous countries of sub-Saharan Africa, with insulating ceramic rocket stoves in Tanzania.
