Edo is the Head of the Scientific Assessments Branch of UN Environment, overseeing the preparation of several major UN reports including i.e. The Global Environment Outlook, the Frontiers series, the Emission Gap Report, etc. At UN Environment, Edo formerly headed the Terrestrial Ecosystems Unit, and developed and managed a large portfolio of Biodiversity of Natural Resources programs, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

Before joining UN Environment in 2009, Edo managed several large GEF-funded projects for various UN agencies, such as the regional "African-Eurasian Flyways" project (23 countries); The Socotra Archipelago Conservation Program (Yemen),  The Dana Wildlands project (Jordan); and the Cape Verde Areas Protegidas project.

He also worked in Uganda (Queen Elizabeth NP and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Conservation Trust Fund), Romania, China, Armenia, Botswana, Ecuador, the Philippines, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, South Africa and Tanzania.

Edo has an academic degree in Tropical Ecology and Tropical Agricultural Sciences from the University of Florence, Italy.
