CEO and Ecotropics Founder, with 15 years experience on earth science and knowledge management systems for international development; where he budgeted portfolios over USD 100M. Arturo received a BSc in Ecology from Universidad Javeriana and a Master of Environmental Science and Water Technology from IHE Delft The Netherlands. Arturo worked for three years as the Ecological Informatics Coordinator at NASA Global Change Data Center in Goddard Space Flight Center, where he was trained about Sensor Webs, Semantic Web, and data science systems for remote sensing architecture. He also advised Colombia's Ministry of Environment, Multilaterals, NPOs, and Corporations for Sustainability Assessments. Recently, he participated as the Associate Expert Roster on Climate and Forests for UNREDD / UNDP. The following set of skills throughout his career are listed as follows:

- Program and project management with experience in fundraising, grantseeking, design, assessment, planning, modelling, monitoring, evaluation, financial management, and results based management on programs in North America, Europe, Latin America, Caribbean, and South East Asia. 

- Capacity building providing technical and management training to farm workers, indigenous populations, judiciary systems, corporate shareholders, partners NPOs, Congressional and Ministry staff in United States and Latin America as an expert/program leader on both social and environmental safeguards. 

- Strategic planning in the area of knowledge management systems, mitigation risks, and understanding vulnerabilities to climate change and adaptation responses.

- Relationship building connecting public, private and development sector initiatives together through dialogue, negotiations, and communications. 

- Knowledge management systems  specialist  by developing  user-oriented cloud-based networks in order to make better informed decisions with the best available technology.
