I work with early-stage impact start-ups, doing business development and helping to secure financing. I am currently focused on Nextchar, a biochar manufacturing company.

Biochar is a newly developing tool that is commonly thought of as one of the most feasible climate-change tools. Biochar is charcoal-like material that is highly porous and high carbon. It is made from slowly cooking(pyrolysis) woody-biomass, which traps 50% of the carbon from the biomass into the biochar. Biochar is commonly used as a soil amendment where it helps repair , over-worked and under productive soils. It is also used in animal feed where it improves digestion and greatly reduces methane release from cows.Biochar has the capability of reducing point source pollution, adsorbing toxins and heavy metals from soil and water and more. It is a very interesting tool. Its main applications are in agriculture and enviromental remediation.
