I'm working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, Government College University, Faisalabad, Pakistan. I got my MSc (Hons.) degree in Agriculture-Plant Breeding & Genetics in 1998. From 1999-2004, I worked with a Foundation, NFRDF (Nature Farming Research and Development Foundation, Faisalabad, Pakistan), as Technology Transfer Officer (TTO) to promote the concept of Nature Farming in the Farming Community of District Toba Tek Singh, Punjab, Pakistan. During this period, I have great opportunity and chance of direct interact with the Farming Community. I gained first-hand knowledge of the agricultural practices followed in this area, and the problems faced by the Farming Community of this locality. I also witnessed the productive potential of this area. Major cropping systems followed in this area were wheat-cotton-wheat, wheat-maize-wheat, and maize-potato-maize, mainly. During this period, I noticed the effects of changing climate on agriculture of this locality compared to the some decades past (being discussed by some of the conscious-minded farmers). This period bestowed me a lot of experience of practical nature to think about the improvement measures for the re-shaping of the agricultural system prevailed in this locality. In 2005, I went for my PhD studies to China. I got my PhD degree in Crop Genetics and Breeding in 2010 and returned back to Pakistan and joined Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan as Assistant Professor. I joined department of Botany, Government College University, Faisalabad, Pakistan on December 01, 2011 as Assistant Professor. My major research focus is to explore the genetics of biotic and abiotic stress tolerance in crop plants; and genetics and genomics of climate change adaptation in crop plants.
