Alice Guess is a South Carolina native. She received her M. Arch from Tulane University. Working with Dr. Alberto Perez Gomez at McGill University in Montreal she completed her M. Arch in History and Theory of Architecture focusing on the machine chapters of quattrocento architect Francesco Di Giorgio Martini’s Trattato di architettura, ingegneria e arte militare. She has served on the board of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art and was awarded a 40 under 40 award by the Post Courier Regional Business Journal, and her work with Gibson Guess Architects was featured in an exhibition Architecture: Timeless or of its Time at the Charleston Civic Design Center. In 2013 she presented her work and research at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture Tropical Cities conference in Fort Lauderdale Florida. She is a currently teaching at Savannah College of Art and Design and contributing to her own practice, Guess Nicholson Architecture with projects throughout the southeastern coastal region.
