I received my Certification in "Community Sustainability Management" in May,  and presently working at an elementary school; which has been a terrific demonstration of community creating positive (environmental) change!  I am co-leader of an after school environmental club for first through fifth graders.  Our group was formed 4 years ago around participation in our district "Energy Challenge," wherein schools from elementary through high--even our education center!--compete to see who can have the largest energy reduction usage in their building, compared to the month of February from the previous year.

Myself and another teacher then continued the 'green team' we had created, and now have a different theme for children to participate in for three, six-week sessions during the school year.  Our team has worked to build a school garden, increase recycling and compost rates, and won for top elementary school in the Energy Challenge, for the all three years our staff and students have participated!
