Ed Thomas is the GM of Material Science & Innovation for Sustainability at NIKE, Inc. Ed has spent the last 30 years creating innovative, diverse, and technically advanced material solutions for the footwear and apparel industries. During his time at Nike, he has led the material science and material research departments for both the apparel and footwear divisions.
A passionate advocate for sustainability and environmental responsibility, Ed has created and nurtured an agenda in materials that supports the dual goals of pinnacle performance and environmental protection. Living and working internationally has given Ed an appreciation of the entire product creation process and an intense understanding of managing and working in a global, multicultural environment. This experience has supported his continued vision around creating a diverse work place and his highly creative approach to problem solving.
