I’m the coordinator of the Climate Place Project (CPP), which submitted a proposal to shift beliefs and attitudes during the Climate Co-Lab's Spring 2015 contest. I also founded a start-up public benefit company, tentatively Climate Realty LLC. Our team includes geophysical and social scientists, practitioners and climate adaptation experts.

Together, CPP and Climate Realty intend to provide credible, science-based climate risk and readiness assessments of homes, neighborhoods and communities. We help Americans factor climate change into decisions about where to live, what home to buy and how to make your place more resilient wherever you are.

Most fundamentally, we seek to hasten the social tipping point by changing the climate frame:  It’s personal, it’s local, it’s now, and it’s solvable. Accelerating global warming will affect one of the biggest decisions and investments you will ever make: Where to make a home for your family.

Before you sign that 30-year mortgage, we help you sort through the multiple dimensions and scales of climate disruption:  Regional climate shifts, extreme weather trends and projections, infrastructure vulnerability, community adaptive capacity, public health factors, ecological services, and water, energy and food security.

CPP proposes to crowdsource important data layers for assessing community adaptive capacity, engaging climate experts and the general public to assess risk and readiness.  Climate Realty will license community climate-smart scores from CPP and evaluate household location and home design to provide address-specific scores.

Please send me a message if you'd like to join our proposal team.

I’ve been a social entrepreneur in the environmental and philanthropic community for 24 years. I have a sociology degree from Cornell University.  I live with my wife, Nancy, in Montana where I am nourished by a tight-knit community and a devotion to wild nature.
