Member Profile
I am a town planner with qualifications in Civil Engineering and Environmental Law.
I am the author of Rethinking the City, which explores how the way we think influences the way we build our cities. It examines the main ideas that underpin the modern city: the public-private divide, how a coin based economy creates markets and centralised governments; and how resonant ideas—people movements—were transformed into the world’s religions. The very same ideas that created our current systems—freedom from work, freedom from authority, freedom from debt and freedom of movement—now powered by the internet, are unravelling political, economic and religious systems and creating a new kind of city—a global network of connected local communities.
My current research is exploring the circular economy as a way of creating locally resilient communities that can then be globally connected through the sharing economy.
