Christine Tempesta is the Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Alumni Association at MIT. In this role she is responsible for volunteer leadership development, and implementation of strategic objectives aligning institutional vision and mission with creative new ways to engage alumni. These include K-12 STEM education, energy and the environment, entrepreneurship, and legislative advocacy. She served as Director of Alumni Relations at MIT from 2003 to 2008. She first arrived at MIT in 1996 after a thirteen-year stint with the American Heart Association, where she served in successive roles as Asst. Director of Development, Director of Field Services, and Greater Boston Executive Director. In both the health non-profit and the academic arena, Christine has demonstrated her entrepreneurial skills in volunteer management, event planning, marketing, communications, fundraising and technology development. Christine has made it a priority to use technology resources to communicate, create community, and establish web-based interactions between staff, volunteers, alumni and students, while still enabling traditional relationship building that makes for successful partnerships. She is a long-time volunteer for CASE, and currently serves as the CASE District I chair elect. She holds a BA from Bridgewater State University.
