Harvey teaches about building energy efficiency with a focus on innovation to address problems of worldwide energy access and sufficiency, as well as global climate. These innovations apply big data, community networks and behaviors, distributed controls, and creative financing.He also supports student research and theses, develops symposia, serves on MIT's campus energy task force, and advises Boston, Cambridge, and NStar on community-based efficiency initiatives.
From 1998 to 2007, Harvey was CEO and founder of Nexus Energy Software (now Aclara Software), with provided utilities with energy efficiency tools for their customers, and analytics for advanced meters, forecasting, and load settlement. Previously he was President of Xenergy (now DNV-GL Sustainability Solutions).
