James is an associate professor of chemistry and environmental studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he directs the Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies. He holds a PhD in analytical and atmospheric chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an undergraduate degree in chemistry with a certificate in environmental studies from Pacific Lutheran University.
