As principle of The Frew Group (TFG), a small woman-owned consulting company, Suzanne works closely with a wide range of clients on strategic communications, social media, community resilience, sustainabilaity and emergency management. For over 20 years she's served the public sector (health, transportation, law enforcement, social services, disaster management), academia, private and non-governmental sectors throughout the United States, Canada, Asia Pacific region and Southeast Asia.

Specialties: cross cultural communications with diverse sectors/communities; building resilient, sustainable communities through integrated planning, policies and out-of-the-box innovation; capacity building; new communication technologies; engaging high risk vulnerable populations; and furthering the use of social media for emergency management (#smem). 

Suzanne serves on the Emerging Technologies Caucus of the International Association of Emergency Managers, the Maui Island Council of the Hawaiian Island Land Trust, and is a founding member of Gender and Disaster Network.

She is serving as the community outreach coordinator on the NOAA-funded post-disaster reconstruction guidelines project for Maui County (HI). She is co-authoring a book on social media for community reslience for Routledge Publishing. She co-developed and teaches the FEMA certified "Social Media for Disaster Response and Recovery" course for the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center/University of Hawaii. She started her disaster management career serving FEMA Regions IX and I as Mitigation Education, Outreach and Partnership Development Coordinator and Public Information Officer (PIO).  Since leaving federal service, she has worked as team leader, project manager, SME, facilitator and author. She responded to Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami with the IBM Crisis Response Team.
