Leah Stokes is a PhD Candidate in environmental policy and planning in the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning and a masters student in Political Science at MIT. Her dissertation examines retrenchment in renewable energy policies across North America, drawing on policy implementation theory and quantitative methods. Her other research focuses on international environmental negotiations, particularly the Minamata Convention on mercury and climate policy. Leah is a Martin Fellow and Energy Fellow at the MIT Energy Initiative and her dissertation research has received support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Prior to MIT, Leah worked at the Parliament of Canada, Resources for the Future and the Initiative for Policy Dialogue. She has a BSc from the University of Toronto and an MPA from Columbia University.
