I am a fire officer in a small Midwestern city with 18+ year on the job. In 2002 I earned my Master's degree in Labor & Industrial relations from the University of Illinois, with a focus on strategic management. Post-retirement I look forward to a second Master's in Urban Planning joint with Law. My goal is to help develop more sustainable emergency response systems for an increasinlgy urban world. My general approach is that government is nothing more or less than an exercise in human resource management. Once this is recognized explicitly, it is easier to understand how health care and education contribute to economic success, and the role of government therein. From a public safety perspective, if a healthier and more educated society tends to be a richer society, it will tend to be a safer society too, with lower insurance costs. Together, this increases the available human capital in our social systems, allowing individual genius more opportunity to flower, and with it the health of our world.
