Neil Ian is an instructor of Biology and Environmental Science at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Manila, Philippines. 

He took his B.S. and M.Sc. in Microbiology at UST. 

His graduate study focused on the biological control of toxic bloom-forming cyanobacteria using bacteriolytic myxobacteria. 

His interests includes sustainable agricultural systems, and he is keen on the use of microbial biotechnology as well as other available technologies in solving problems in water, food, and energy, pollution and human health.

His professional experience includes manufacturing, quality control, sales and marketing, and trade in the pharmaceutical industry. 

He is now working on Biochar and probiotics.
