Konrad has over 25 years of experience in sustainable development, of which 20 years with the World Bank. He is currently an independent consultant working on climate change and cities, as well as on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and climate oriented crowd-funding and micro-finance. He is also a Director of WEnergy, a Singapore based start-up company offering renewable energy solutions focused on East Asia. As a manager at the World Bank, he created the climate change practice at the World Bank Institute, pioneered a Cities and Climate Change learning program, and initiated a NAMA Practitioner Dialogue. As a project leader he helped introduce economic instruments in environmental management in the Philippines, and started up the first Ozone Depleting Substances phase out projects in Malaysia and Thailand. Konrad holds master degrees in economics and in political science from the FU Berlin, Germany.
