MIT '69, Course XXI (non-graduate) - best known at that time as the founder of "Thursday," an alternative weekly newspaper to compete with The Tech.  It lasted 10 years after I left the Institute in 1969.  I tell people that I "majored in extracurriculars" because I really wasn't pursuing a degree so much as getting an education and maintaining my 2S draft deferment. I hold the distinction of being (I suspect) the only person to spend four years as an undergraduate and still be deficient in Freshman Chemistry (6.01), Physics (8.02) and Math (18.02). (I did complete the PhysEd requirement.) My advisor was Prof. Louis Kampf, chosen because he would sign my registration without questioning my failure to take required subjects.  I really enjoyed my time at MIT.

While at MIT, I won a summer internship at the Washington Post (1968), whence I went on to a brief career in neighborhood journalism in Brooklyn, NY., where I ran for Mayor against Ed Koch, 1981, and for City Council against Stephen DiBrienza, 1985 -- more learning experiences for me!

Professionally, I'm best known for creating and running Journal Graphics, Inc., which became the nation's leading producer of printed transcripts for TV news and public affairs programs (plus NPR) in the United States during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Residential real estate is my third and final career, beginning in 2003.  By using my journalistic skills, I have built my business by writing a "Real Estate Today" column which I pay to publish in the Denver Post and five local weekly newspapers.  This has been highly successful and brings me 90% of my business. In 2012 I sold $15 million worth of real estate.
