Dr. Phil Domenico is a research scientist and author of numerous peer-reviewed and trade publications. Dr. Domenico received a BA from SUNY at Albany in biology/psychology, a PhD in microbiology from the University of Texas Health Sciences Sysyem, and held postdoctoral fellowships at the Rockefeller University in New York and LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. He worked for nearly two decades as a Research Director in Infectious Diseases at Winthrop-University Hospital and attained the level of Associate Professor at Stony Brook University. In that capacity, he invented a new class of patented antimicrobial agents currently approaching Phase 2 clinical trials, and under development for several medical and industrial applications. His patented anti-infective, anti-biofilm technology has received over $10 million in federal grants, and is currently being studied to treat orthopedic and wound infections at several major medical centers, including those of the US Army . Dr. Domenico currently consults for Microbion Biosciences, the startup biotechnology company that owns exclusive license to his inventions.
