Judges'' comments
Judges' comments are outlined below:
Judge 1: This is a very good proposal which incentivizes freight shippers to take a holistic perspective on their GHG emissions.
Judge 2: I concur with the authors that a transparent system of tracking emissions throughout the supply chain can significantly help improve environmental performance. However, the incentive for companies to participate (and pay for the service) remains unclear to me.
Judge 3: Having a system for estimating the full transportation impacts of a supply chain could be a powerful tool associated with a reliable offset program. At the same time, I think there are competitive platforms that should be at least discussed. I am a bit skeptical though on how this proposal actually works - the information on the mechanics are scant. I am also not a big fun of offset systems - they are notoriously difficult to run effectively. So my support for this proposal at its current development stage is a bit tentative as it does not provide a strong case on either front.
Judge 4: This is an interesting proposal. I would like to see more on the benefit to the user, and why shippers would be willing to spend the money to become part of the scheme. Is there enough incentive? This is dependent on the interest in knowing transportation emissions, which may vary by country. What kind of interest have you received from shippers?

Judge 1:
This is an interesting idea. The proposal needs more details though, for example on what incentives are to be proposed that will get operators etc. to take part in the program, how much it would cost, and some level of quantification of environmental benefits.

| Proposal creator Dear judge, We appreciate your comments and we added more information about our proposal following your suggestion.
- update: cost - update: enviromental benefits - update: introduction - about the amount of GHG emission reduction is not the first impact of our proposal, because VGP is a online platform to manage the GHG emission, thus, the VGP's users can act to reduce them. In other words, we only can reduce what we know and measure. Thereby, VGP will help their user to undestand their emission sources and share some ideas to reduce and/or offset them, everything online, secure and integrate. |

| Proposal creator Dear judges, The benefits starts to understand the GHG emission by transport sector, actually, the main environmental impact. The increase of GHG emission into supply chain can mean inefficiency in transportation, thereby, VGP can help their members to look this situation with more details and subsidies to take decisions. VGP can create environmental indicators among the supply chain, ranking them by GHG emission and environmental efficiency. Also, VGP make possible to create scenarios between different modes aiming aware the user about possible emission by their transport activities, and, then, preventing it. In Brazil, we presented VGP for some companies, which ones got interest due to online and security platform for a low cost and integrating with supply chain. |
