Pitch
Tree plantation on perimeter of farm land and annual income to farmers based on number of trees on the perimeter which is sponsored by CSR
Description
Summary
Average Indian farmland size is 1.15 hectors which has perimeter of ~ 430 m. Considering separation length between 2 farms the area available for plantation is 200 sq. m. (On country scale it comes to 2.8 million hectors and CO2 capture potential of 14 million tons of CO2/year) As of today, number of trees in the farm need to be recorded in land papers every year. If if trees are planted along the separation length and annually based on the number of trees, monetary benefits are availed to farmers it would be automatic way of improving sustainable vegetative land. calculation shows
Industries are mandated to invest part of profit into CSR activities. Normally these activities are concentrated in the areas near about the Industry base. Industrial zone are limited in numbers but has lot of CSR funds. If government create appropriate mechanism of CSR fund distribution in farmers based on the no of tress on the separation length, it will empower the farmers. Also there is good possibility that communication channel will be created between farmers and industries because of prior funding and ownership / accountability perspective. This will attract additional funding in other areas like education, healthcare etc. areas. Indirectly this will make CSR funding available for remote areas which are far from industrial sites.
Is this proposal for a practice or a project?
Practice
What actions do you propose?
1.Identify appropriate / suitable botanical vegetation in various areas
2. With analysis, understand cost of tree plantation and sustaining it for first few years to farmers
3. Define the cost benefit / incentives farmer should get for the activity
4. Define the organizational model and policy for implementation
Who will take these actions?
1. Government
2. Industries
3. NGOs
4. Farmers
Where will these actions be taken?
First there will remote area (limited population) which can be identified as pilot site..
Based on success and challenges faced, statewide and nationwide implementation is possible.
Idea is scaleble on global scale..
In addition, specify the country or countries where these actions will be taken.

What impact will these actions have on greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change?
Positive CO2 fixation
Sustainable solution than any industrial CO2 capture
Improve as time progress
Maintain and improve biodiversity without substantial efforts
Long term benefits like water shed management, soil conservation etc.
What are other key benefits?
Costs/Challenges
What are the proposal’s projected costs?
