Pitch

Instead of using electricity from coal fired powered plants for electric cars, compressed air powered vehicles offer a viable alternative.

Description

Summary

The utilization of compressed air powered vehicles as a substitution to the use of fossil fuel powered vehicles. The energy to compress the air for the vehicles would be by means of alternative energy sources.

Is this proposal for a practice or a project?

Practice

What actions do you propose?

Promoting the use of compressed air motors for transportation, especially for public transportation vehicles such as buses. This is technology that has been around for more than a century....compressed air trains used to service tunnels in the mining industry.

Who will take these actions?

Media services, especially advertising agencies, would be the main group that would contacted in order to create a media plan to promote this clean air technology.

Where will these actions be taken?

This would be done on a global scale by means of mainly online advertising.

In addition, specify the country or countries where these actions will be taken.

China

Country 2

Chile

Country 3

Mexico

Country 4

Colombia

Country 5

Taiwan

Impact/Benefits

What impact will these actions have on greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change?

Please check back later for calculations.

What are other key benefits?

Based on existing technology, vehicles could partially power themselves by means of compressed air technology with the braking of the vehicle (regenerative braking), creating compressed for the storage in the motor for future use by means of mechanically converting the horizontal movement in the wheels into power for the compressor.

In brief, the ability to partially recapture of energy from the intermittent impeding of the movement of the vehicle (braking) into energy for future power requirements.

Compressed air has been used since the 19th century to power mine locomotives and trams in cities such as Paris (via a central, city-level, compressed air energy distribution system), and was previously the basis of naval torpedopropulsion.

During the construction of the Gotthardbahn from 1872 to 1882, pneumatic locomotives were used in the construction of the Gotthard Rail Tunnel and other tunnels of the Gotthardbahn.

HISTORICAL REFERENCE:

In 1903, the Liquid Air Company located in London England manufactured a number of compressed-air and liquified-air cars. The major problem with these cars and all compressed-air cars is the lack of torque produced by the "engines" and the cost of compressing the air.[7]

Since 2010, several companies have started to develop compressed air cars including hybrid types that also include a petrol driven engine; none has been released to the public, or have been tested by third parties.
