Pitch

Put the power of your intention and your awareness to the service of sustainability and contribute while reaching cosmic consciousness

Description

Summary

Creating awareness of the highest kind is a very efective way of achieving objetives. My idea is based on techniques developed by Patanjali, a wise sage from India, many years ago. I refer to them as Creative contemplation. These procedures can be done by individuals or groups and have far reaching impacts.

A theme is chosen to carry out the contemplative work. Naturally the idea is to work on topics related to nature, land, climate, natural balance, living beings, laws of nature, personal commitment, love for others, friendship, group work, sensitivity, feeling, service; that is to say, themes that draw attention to the closeness to the cosmos, life, beings and people.

Attention is given, delicately, without effort, to the subject of contemplation. This is done through the power of the will and of intention. It does not matter that there are distractions. If these occur, which is natural, the person (or group) turns their attention, again, to the subject of contemplation. This is done regularly during times that can vary (5 -to 20 min.).

A desire is expressed, quietly, related to the subject of contemplation, which can be felt quietly or can be commented upon and described in group.

Any thoughts or ideas resulting from the contemplation, can be also subjected to contemplation themselves, in a recurrent process. It is not a matter of arguing or discusing them, but of observation.

Do a personal, or group work, in which the attention is identified with the object of contemplation and with the associated ideas, positive or negative. This is done by feeling all these things as real, letting the body feel and experience them.

Then all this is named in a calm way, assigning one or more names: for example: object, sensation, reality, thing, something that does not qualify the subject, but simply name it. This gives a great sense of wisdom and joy.

Now espress again a desire with all that power

Doing these practices frequently will be effective to create awareness and change

Is this proposal for a practice or a project?

Practice

What actions do you propose?

Design a set of booklets that describe the contemplative process, with some specific examples.

Organize a blogg to discusse, teach, share and explain the method.

Write a book, discussing the potentials of creative contemplation and the exciting possibilities this method offers.

Organize groups of practitioners committed to the proposed technology. Establish links between groups, to create a network around the world.

Organize workshops and courses to teach the method and apply it to specific situations in various fields related to sustainability.

Create a network of teachers who teach the technique through open access systems

Present various projects to entities, to obtain support and carry out research, pilot studies and extrapolations of the techniques to even more challenging and extensive fields.

Collect and disseminate success stories and positive experiences

Organize conferences at different levels to present cases, to disseminate methods, to stimulate research and dissemination of these techniques

Organize web courses to teach the methods

Convince more and more education systems use the practice of creative contemplation methods as part of the formal and informal institutional educational curriculum

Who will take these actions?

My idea is to initially form a group of committed and volunteer leaders in the place where I live, the city of Medellin, in Colombia.

I am going to contribute an initial capital of US $ 5000 to start the activities.

I start with several courses of 20 hours each, explaining the technique of creative contemplation. I think that after five courses, of 10 people each, I can count on an initial team of 10 people.

After that, we set up the virtual courses and the dissemination documents, with the help of the initial capital.

I think that in a year of work, you can give origin to the work in several cities, so that the methods are developed.

I plan to dedicate, as a volunteer, part time to this project, at least for two or three years, until it gets enough strength to keep going.

I think I will be able to convince people for the first courses and to put together the first team of volunteers.

Where will these actions be taken?

All initial work will be done in Colombia, South America, essentially in the city of Medellín and its Metropolitan Area.

It will be extended to other cities and regions of the country (Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, Pereira, Barranquilla, Bucramanga, among others.

Then, through virtual means, to other Spanish speaking countries.

After one-two year of work, an adaptation to different languages than Spanish (English, French, Portuguese, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Russian) will be made as a result of the dissemination and a growth of the international capacity to test the proposed methods .

In addition, specify the country or countries where these actions will be taken.

Colombia

Country 2

Mexico

Country 3

Chile

Country 4

Peru

Country 5

United States

Impact/Benefits

What impact will these actions have on greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change?

I am estimating a reduction of global CO2 emissions starting at 225 tons of CO2 per year to 2.4 million tons in 10 years, with an exponential growth in 10 years, which may continue in the future.

This is achieved considering that the program starts with 30 people teaching and disseminating the technique per year until reaching 300 to 10 years. It is considered that each teacher can educate 10 people in year 1 and reach up to 50 people per year in year 10.

In turn, each person trained and practicing will have an influence factor in their environment, with their example, their actions, their leadership, their sensitivity, their sense of commitment. This factor is considered as a multiplier of 5 in the first year, until reaching a multiplier of 60 in year 10

In turn, each person influenced will achieve reductions in emissions associated with their activity. It has been estimated that each person is associated in some way with 5 tons per year of CO2 emissions. As a result of the proposed program, it has been assumed that in the first year, each affected person influences a 3% reduction, until reaching a 18% reduction in year 10. This is how it is possible to reduce 225 tons of CO2 in the year 1 and 2.4 million tons in 10 years.

Considering a universal baseline of 35 gigatons of CO2, these reductions suggest decreases between 0.0000006% in the first year and 0.0067% in year 10

What are other key benefits?

The proposal will impact universal CO2 reduction targets, but also at the local level. This is because many of the key decisions are made at the local level. The idea is that the suggested practices, will contribute or a decision making process based on the possession of high levels of consciousness in the people and in the groups that make then up.

The techniques of creative contemplation, applied to the contemplation of nature, have as a consequence the development of empathy, that is, of intimate closeness with nature and with others, which inspires feelings of compassion and balance towards the other, be it nature or resources or the planet or people.

Likewise, these techniques develop advanced states of consciousness, the first of which is cosmic consciousness, that is, the sense of respect and of full of knowledge towards the cosmos. The second state is the creative or divine consciousness, which is the ability to create respectfully and responsibly, in harmony with planetary and human realities. The third advanced state of consciousness is the Unity consciousness, that is, feeling oneself one with life, with nature, with others.

In this way, it is possible to contribute to make people aware of the cosmos, of life, creative and very loving. This will contribute to ending crime, corruption, disorderly and selfish behavior, that is, will help ending and controlling all these entropic things that contribute to social, human and planetary deterioration.

It also contributes to friendship, teamwork, solarity, creativity, respect, compassion, collective and personal happiness, in an atmosphere of planetary and social respect.

In this way, actions and ventures will also be more successful and less costly, contributing to the generation of value and economic prosperity.

Costs/Challenges

What are the proposal’s projected costs?

The proposal is based entirely on educational work, on training activities, carried out in the midst of human groups that wish to carry out contemplative practices that are very simple and easy to implement.

The greater costs and difficulties will be related to funding and stimulating the dissemination and teaching activity of teachers and tutors. A good part of these activities will be of a voluntary nature, since the promoters of the idea and the leaders will do it in a free way, without expecting remuneration.

In any case, there will be costs of training, teaching, dissemination, publicity, travel, editing, attendance at events.

Costs have been estimated at US $ 6400 in the first year and US $ 670,000 in year 10 and US $ 1,700,000 accumulated in the 10 years. These costs give a base cost of US $ 0.40 per ton CO2 eliminated

Timeline

To predict the impact of the systematic practices of creative contemplation applied to nature, to the planet, to compassion, to empathy toward the other, we must have a high dose of faith in human capacity. But at the same time, we must realize that consciousness can expand exponentially and reach to transform large human groups. Clear examples are those of Humboldt, Darwin, Carlson, Emerson and especially Henry David Thoreau, who with their ideas and writings have given rise to true transformations in human consciousness. Patanjali, who is the father of creative contemplation, is also the originator of the Yoga of the mind, whose implications for human behavior have been far reaching. My idea is to apply these concepts to the transformation of people's approach to nature. My sense of things tells me that this is a transformative and fundamental idea.

I already presented my projections for 10 years. I dared to project this way for 15, 50 and 100 years:

at 15 years 3.500.000 ton/year CO2 eliminated;

at 50 years 68.000.000 ton/year CO2 eliminated;

at 100 years 400.000.000 ton/year CO2 eliminated
