This project is well-conceived, holistic yet focused, and will have an impact on behavior and on CO2 emissions. It can lead to a strong sustainable agriculture ethic ingrained into the local community and real changes in emissions on the ground. While it lacks new techniques, science, or strategies, it has strong potential to be effective.

There have been considerable efforts in many countries for similar programmes and there are some successful cases too. The success is mainly due to the incentive mechanisms and to reduce the short-term and long-term risks for the farmers. Most of the primitive level farmers do not want to take risks as it can deprive them and their families of a crop for a full season. Therefore, the efforts to make behavioural changes for the new seeds and organic fertilizers are not making much inroads except in few succcessful cases. This project has a potential if can be re-written with assessment of how farmers perceive these risks and what will motivate farmers to change their behaviour or perception.

This proposal has possibilities, and with a little more work could be a candidate to advance to the next round. The participants have experience, and they have a reasonable timeline. The Judges would like to see some more on exactly what they will do when, who is responsible, and how the costs relate to the actual work on the ground.

To address your comments we have added the following: 

-a chicken-raising component to subsidize farmer's income while the agroforestry trees grow. We believe this will also add to the "novelty' of our proposal as these chickens are fed using azzola - an easy to grow water fern 

- more information about timeline and tree growth rates

- a more detailed budget

-more information about our beneficiaries and the benefits they have experienced using the ICARE farming method
