Dr. Wassie Haile,

This is an impressive and articulated proposal. Other cities have done something similar (https://blogs.worldbank.org/voices/virtuous-circle-integrating-waste-pickers-solid-waste-management). Can you think of how your proposal can build on the strengths and weaknesses of what already exists? Furthermore, what are your plans to evaluate success and GHG emissions resulting from reduced waste? See this paper for additional information: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1057%2Fejdr.2014.31

Dear Hung Vo,This to make a follow up message that thank you very much once again for your encouraging comments. I have kindly indicated my plan briefly as to how to calculate the emission reduction from converting UOSWs to compost in my proposal using other reference materials as a guide. But, I was unable to access the reference materials you have recommended to me. However, in case, I get a chance to be promoted to the next stage, I will  have sufficient time to use more reference materials to elaborate of my plan. With Best RegardsWassie Haile

Extending thanks to UN-Environment and Congratulating Winners

I would like to extend my special thanks and appreciations to UN-Environment for creating such a very important global platform in collaboration with MIT whereby each and every citizen of the world is able to freely contents by submitting proposals aimed at addressing SG13 and one or more of other SDGs irrespective of his/her color, location, gender, education status etc. I believe that this is one of the best platforms that brought the world together to find solutions for our common causes (Global problems need Global solution). It is also my conviction that UN-Environment created this global platform on the notion that intelligence and creativity are randomly distributed among all people of the world. Thus, I hope that UN-Environment will continue and strengthen this platform so that more and more people around the world will be able to submit proposals with innovative ideas, practices etc. that will be able to contribute to addressing SDG13 and more other SDGs in the future.

Coming to myself, I was one of the contestants by submitting four proposals on this online platform and fortunately one of my proposals was selected as one of the finalist’s proposal. Even if I am not a winner, I consider myself as winner because in the courses the contest which lasted for more than three months, I learned a lot and gained knowledge from proposals of other contestants, fellows, judges etc. At this juncture, I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciations to advisors, judges and fellows for their genuine and critical evaluations of contesting proposals. I can imagine the difficulties with selecting best proposals from among several very good proposals.

I would like to say “Congratulations” to all winners of this contest. Your success now is success to all us around the world. It will inspire millions of people especially young generation to follow your line and contribute to SDGs and other problems of the world. It is my hope that you’re winning proposals will be translated into practices to contribute to SDGs.

Finally, it is my utmost hope that those of us, who have contested in this platform but didn’t win now, will work hard and improve ourselves to come up with winning proposals in the future.

Let us keep hope alive!!!

Well done, this is a great initiative.

Did you ever get the financials in place? I am busy trying to set up an organic composting structure in Zimbabwe.

You have shared amazing proposals. I would like to suggest a site where I have found creative business proposals PowerPoint templates. It's https://www.slideteam.net/
