Sidney Clouston Nov 6, 2017 07:40 ![]() | Proposal contributor We have a proposal that is related to your suggested project. We are in cooperation with the Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria which is the second largest university in Africa. Our team includes the Call Center for the Extension Agent Service which provides services to the agricultural community and especially the small farmers. We have intentions to provide a pathway for Youth Vocational Training as assistants to the Extension Agency and interface with the small farmers. In a study by the Agricultural Research Council in Nigeria the Extension Agent may have 6 to 7,000 small farmers in their service area, however see only a few of the larger farmers in a year. That results in literally thousands of farmers under served or not served at all. The United Nations FAO has stated publically that they need a greater activity directed toward the small farmers to include information. The growing population has the FAO asking that there be a fifty percent higher yield by the small farmers that will help the specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of Hunger Relief and it will also improve on Poverty relief at the market place with higher yields. Other SDGs will directly or indirectly benefit. The Regional Sustainable Energy Center of Excellence exists for the facilitation of such projects in Sub-Sahara Africa. www.rsece.org |
Wassie Haile Woldeyohannes Nov 7, 2017 05:41 ![]() | Proposal contributor Dear Sidney Clouston, Thank you very much for supporting my proposal and your comments stating that you have proposal related to my suggested project. We are in the era of advance information communication technology that can effectively disseminate technology, knowledge and skill that are helpful to solve problems, improve production of goods and services in any field of development. However, the existing ITC have little been used to help improve agricultural productive, to adaption to climate change impacts, to avoid weather related risks and hazards etc. in Africa compared to the other parts of the world. Therefore, it is still to work hard to better technologies, skills and knowledge reach to and adopted by small scale farmers in Africa by developing innovative approaches for last mile delivery of information to intended users. Thus, I appreciate your initiative and proposal to reach to small scale farmers in Nigeria. If you are willing, I will be happy to collaborate each other to merge our proposal and work together. With Kind Regards Wassie Haile |
