Pitch

33 cents from an averaging 1 billion peoble per day, yields 120.45 billion euros/dollars per year

Description

Summary

My proposal is to provide a financial basis for people to actively participate in achieving the stated 17 goals more easily. For this, of the more than 7 billion people on average 1 billion people voluntary would have to pay 33 cents a day (about 10 euros/dollar a month) into a common account. That is 120.45 billion euros/dollar for one year or over 1.4 trillion euro/dollar for the planned 12 years. These possible 120 billion euro/dollar could be divided on the 17 goals and thus approximately 7 billion euro/dollar per target and year would be available. If managed the people to convince them to  spend 33 cents per day over the planned 12-year period, that would be around 84 billion euros/dollar per target. This allows for a stabile financial base without the financial resources from other key areas being used or additional resources needed. The burden on the individual remains low because the 33 cents would only be an average value of all people in the world.

What actions do you propose?

The above suggestions show possible solutions for other climate change proposals and projects (SDGs 13). These can essentially be transferred to the other SDGs and can thus be used for them. The actual link for all SDGs and all proposal of the Climate CoLab Initiative, however, is the financing, which is a basic prerequisite for achieving the goals. The bigger the financing the smaller the compromises for achieving the SDGs. The measure is to reach people with the help of modern technology all over the  world and inform. In addition, as many people as possible should be encouraged to participate actively with donations of a few cents to solve important challenges. By depositing on a common account can be very well show what potential power people actually have. In addition, the people who participate in it can vote on which projects they would like to support. This is how people can and should accept responsibility themselves. In order to be as effective as possible in the multitude of projects and proposals, however, initiatives such as MIT`s Climate CoLab or similar organizations should play a crucial role in the selection and decision-making process. The above suggestion are sure to help reach as many people as possible. The more people participate and deposit an amount the lower the trade-offs between achieving multiple SDGs. My proposal is ultimately a simple computational solution that offers no room for interpretation and is therefore effectual. The oversight remains with the United Nations and governments, which can then ensure successful implementation. I can not see any undervaluation of SDGs or global goals in implementing my proposal.

Who will take these actions and which types of actors are involved?

People should be the most important actors in my proposal and with the help of a very simple mathematical solution would be able to provide big financial resources. The burden on the individual remains low and thanks to modern technology, the effort of a referral is not very high. Governments or their representatives should ensure that the funds provided are not misappropriated. However, the UN, in particular, is responsible for what, for example, the selection of governments involved and their influence. The elected governments can form a commitee whose representatives ensure, among other things, the coordination and protection of projects. The would also be able to provide the logistics needed to reach as many people as possible. Organizations and initiatives such as Climate CoLab, dedicated to solving key challenges of our time, can help people with their expertise and knowledgeable staff. They can be the necessary link between the individual parties. My personal contribution would be 66 cents a day ( about 20 euros a month ). If also 999999999 people in the world were willing to do so, that would be 240900000000 Euro a year.

Where will these actions be taken and how could they scale?

The measure can be carried out wherever people are willing to make a small financial contribution to solv important challenges of our time. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the people and not with politics or governments. My proposal cleary shows that people are able to take on this responsibility. The mathematical result of my proposal leaves no room for maneuver. This should be shown in all clarity and distinctness so that these actions they scale.

In addition, specify the countries where these actions will be taken.

United States

Country 2

France

Country 3

Germany

Country 4

Country 5

Japan

Impact/Benefits:

What impact will these actions have on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and/or adapting to climate change?

For my proposal, the impact on measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions depends essentially on the willingsness of people to make a small financial contribution. In principle, I think it is possible when a corresponding number of people participate in achieving all desired climate goals. I can not give you numbers or even calculations. My proposal aims to provide a way for people to support projects and less towards proposals that are directly dedicated to climate change or reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Even if a positive contribution to to climate protecion is desired.

What are the most innovative aspects and main strengths of this approach?

The really crucial thing about my proposal is the simplicity and that it is universally applicable. In principle, everyone in the world is able to participate and use it without great effort. My suggestion can be applied worldwide, nationally and also regionally. With the help of my proposal, people could react appropriately and comprehensively to specific events (such as environmental disasters) in near real time. People would no longer be dependent on the goodwill of governments and their policies.

Costs/Challenges:

What are the proposal’s projected costs?

The planned cost of my proposal is an average of "33" cents a day. This forms the basic idea of my proposal. From this, a financial basis can be created for all areas with which people can react to the challenges of our time. Provided people are prepared to make a financial contribution, enormous financial resources can be provide.

About the Authors

My name is Attila Deutsch and I live near Budapest. There I enjoy my wonderfully boring retirement and my involvement in this proposal would be 66 cents a day.
