Love this idea! I've seen this project first hand in action. Climate Toothpaste actually gets people to stop and engage. It's an out-of-the-box way that does generate awareness and help for carbon-pricing nonprofits doing the advocacy and lobbying work.

Excellent! A little humor rather than harangue.

Definitely something to be said for a three dimensional physical "something" for the printed content too.

Congrats on bringing humor to an otherwise seriously wonky subject. In light of the storm surges pounding the Southeast today,  you might also consider other branding, like "Crest" or "AquaFresh." Happy to support your proposal.

My Climate Toothpastr T-shirt stops people on the sidewalk.  What a smart, upbeat way to talk climate change and carbon pricing with smiling strangers!  Great project.

Climate Toothpaste has been incredibly supportive of carbon pricing efforts in Washington State. Using the toothpaste box to deliver important information on carbon pricing to legislators helped to open the door to serious but respectful conversations during a Lobby day event.

We have used climate toothpaste in our Washington State advocacy work.

Climate change is an extremely polarizing, confusing, and emotional policy area to work in.

Having a prop that is humorous can set the tone for engaging everyone from lawmakers to kids in a productive way.

Heidi is a smart, funny and talented artist who has created a unique and "minty fresh" way to understand and discuss an urgent global issue. For a toothpaste box, Climate is a very "out of the box" and fun way of approaching this subject.

9 of 10 dentists (who are also climate activists) recommend it!

Artist uses icon such as toothpaste box in entirely new context causing casual people to ask "What is this?"  Usually the passers by have studied the design and text, and by asking about the package, have taken the first step towards encountering the climate issue.  I had this happen 9 times in one week when I wore the t-shirt.  The level of thought and willingness to become involved is astonishing.

I gave boxes of toothpaste to family members for Christmas. Great for raising awareness and something that should be shared far and wide!

Heidi is a smart, charismatic artist who has a long history of reconfiguring our understanding of consumer culture. She has done  this through wit, humor, and dynamic graphic sensibilities.   She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally at galleries and museums to positive reviews.   Through a sly playfulness she invites us to contemplate the role and dependence widely distributed products and services have on our lives.  She has extraordinary perseverance and determination and I think this project is a fantastic evolution in her practice and commitment to climate issues. I have known her for over 20 years, once her professor, but quickly a dear colleague and loyal friend. I love my t-shirt and have sent climate toothpaste to friends and family!

Right on! What a clever, accessible, “refreshing” way to get the word out! Appealing to all ages too.

Climate Toothpaste is THE BEST!  I love it and so do my kids (and dog, but she doesn't brush her teeth). In all seriousness, Heidi's approach to advocacy is brilliant: use the iconography of recognizable brands, who have invested billions and decades to garner your trust and recognition, to motivate positive social change. Rock on!

Caring about the environment should be as routine as brushing your teeth.  This campaign uses a clever approach to spread interest and awareness about a serious issue. The climate could use a breath of fresh air!!

Wish I could come up with a witty zinger, but maybe this will do: I've known Heidi as a fellow-traveling artist for almost 20 (?!) years. Her work is always smart, impeccably-executed, and funny. And this time, it's making a real-world difference. Wish I could do the same.

You go, girl!

Climate toothpaste is a brilliant idea.  We could surely do with more Heidi Codys in the world at the moment.  This is a lesson in how to conduct public debate with wit, insight and empathy, the most powerful tools in the world.  Addressing our very survival and at the same time reminding us all that being passionate about something doesn't mean that you can't also be decent and funny while you're about it: win-win.

Makes me think back to Buster Simpson's art project putting giant antacids in the streambeds of the northwest that were facing serious acid rain. You need to come up with delicious white paste that scrubs carbon out of the atmosphere, and put tubes of it in those boxes. Could you do that for me? you've got a lab coat and everything...

Seriously the threats to the climate are the most important challenge facing the world today, and this humorous but real effort at outreach and education is an awesome tool to fight it.

Since I've been using Climate Toothpaste people who once shied away from me now seek me out, and I think I'm more stable than I was. Cleary I'm a genius! Just look at my toothpaste.

This is a remarkable project. I have known Heidi Cody for over twenty years. The Climate Toothpaste project demonstrates that she continues to be remarkably bright, passionate about her work, and tirelessly make the world a better, more enlightened place to live. Her ability to marry social justice with creative genius is an inspiration to us all.
