Dear Emil,

There is still left before the September 10, 2017 deadline for you to complete your proposal. I would encourage reaching out to the catalysts and fellows assigned to this competition for more help and getting feedback on any potential ideas you have regarding electric heating and cooling. Have you looked at air-source heat pumps as a potential solution?

Best Regards,

Teerth Brahmbhatt

Hi Emil,

I have already read through some of your other interesting proposals, this one seems like a work in progress as I see most of the questions are incomplete. A gentle reminder that we have only few days left before the close of first phase of the challenge.

Also How do you plan to generate electricity for electrical heating and cooling, since you have mentioned without using fossil fuels.

Thanks & regards

Aadhithya

Dear Teerth,

Thank you for your feedback. The heating model I am leaving open to research for the optimal model. However I am proposing testing the efficiency of heated coils in the blades or under the blades compared to heat pumps placed either in the housing of the fan (if silent enough) or outside connected with shaft to the fan casing.

I am including an image below.

Many thanks,

Emil

Hi Aadhithya,

Thank you for your feedback. About your question:

How do you plan to generate electricity for electrical heating and cooling, since you have mentioned without using fossil fuels.

The proposal is a bridge to moving people away from fossil fuels and in the process encouraging use of renewable energy. The challenge I am looking into is to have people the option of using renewable energy which is currently stifled by extensive use of oil and natural gas.

Overview of how the Universal Ceiling Fan can speed up the elimination of fossil fuels for home heating systems.

By creating demand for a high a quality, energy efficient ceiling fan that meets a variety of other needs besides heating (fire sprinklers, alarms, air conditioning, humidifier/dehumidifier, air purifier) the model provides a means for out-fazing the use of fossil fuels for heating.
